COVID-19 NOTIFIABLE DISEASE

To all Registered and Licenced Physicians

Under the authority of Part 5 of the Health Services Act (CH. 231), the Chief Medical Officer wishes to inform that COVID-19, caused by the infectious agent SARS-CoV-2, is a notifiable disease. Therefore, all cases of COVID-19 should be reported to the Ministry of Health National Disease and Surveillance Unit.

To ensure the relevant information is collected at the point of care,  a standardized laboratory collection form is available at the office of the Bahamas Medical Council to be used by all health care providers on sample collection. The information will be used to investigate respiratory disease events and facilitate contact tracing efforts in order to prevent and mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Kindly contact the office of the Bahamas Medical Council at info@bahamasmedicalcouncil.org should you require a copy of the standardized laboratory collection form.
